St David Dairy is Melbourne's only inner micro dairy, packaging milk, cream, cultured butter and yoghurt right in the heart of Fitzroy.

We are seeking a Leading Hand to plan, oversee and lead a small team of production staff plus work on the factory floor as needed, in the daily manufacture of our range of products. Being part of a small team the role will encompass many area's of production:

  • Follow quality systems and ensure production documentation and procedures are followed and maintained.
  • Ensure current and new staff are provided with relevant training
  • Ensure factory and warehouse are maintained and cleaned daily following

  • St David Dairy's hygiene and housekeeping standards

  • Perform weekly stock take of factory consumables and packaging
  • Help plan weekly rostering and staff leave planning
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance activities where required

Being such a small team we are looking for someone who has the passion to become an important part of our business as it continues to grow. We seek persons with a genuine a passion for food and creating beautiful artisan products.

The successful candidate:

  • Have relevant leadership experience
  • Well versed in the food manufacturing environment (knowledge of pumps, valves etc)
  • Has relevant food industry experience
  • Fit and motivated individual
  • Food Science & Technology training favourable

Key attributes include an attention to detail, reliability, literacy and numeracy skills, an underpinning knowledge of personal and food hygiene and a personable nature that can easily participate in customer service as required.

The small and boutique nature of the business means that a good level of physical strength is required due to the manual nature of the work, with the ability to lift 20kg milk crates repetitively.


Being the face of the business on a daily basis, we are looking for more than a regular delivery person. The candidate will have the skills and passion to create positive relationships with our small but growing client base, and be a trusted part of our clients daily lives as well as our business. Being a small business this is a job requiring very good physical fitness, enabling hand-loading of trucks, and ability to handle milk crates (19kg) with ease, with a high repeatability of tasks.

Good numeracy and literacy skills are a must to ensure accurate invoicing of deliveries.

Excellent driving skills and courteous manner is essential as you travel within our local community.

We are looking for a team member that is both reliable and flexible to the needs of a growing new business.

Normal hours will be 3.30am start to approx 11.30am, with rotating Saturday AM availability also essential.

The job will commence as a casual position, with a view to move to Full-time on proven performance.

A Full-time role will be considered immediately for an excellent candidate with extensive relevant experience, as their performance is assessed.
